Walks & Personalized Journeys

During my facilitated walks, I teach and facilitate conversation and shared learning, including deep attentiveness and interaction with the environment.

  • Deep Correspondence Walks: Explore lesser known dynamics of places and spark critical and inclusive thinking as well as creativity.
  • Co-Walk Coaching & Personalized Journeys: Tailored journeys that deepen and expand place identity.
  • Little Havana Tours: Learn about the role of Little Havana’s Calle Ocho heritage district in crafting a “single story” (dominant narrative) of Little Havana, Cuba, Latin America and Cuban-Americans. Find out how locals have creatively subverted dominant narratives and understandings of people and place.
  • Team-Building Retreats and Walks: Bridge place and cultural awareness, identity, and equity.

Deep Correspondence Walks

Do you care about cities and towns and those who live in them? These 2-hour walks in Western Massachusetts, Little Havana or other locales take you beyond a city or town defined by maps, plans, spreadsheets and stagings for a participatory learning experience.

Drawing on cutting-edge eco-social theories of place, space, race and equity, these walks inspire critical and inclusive thinking as well as creativity. I’ll be introducing the concept of “correspondence” introduced by renowned anthropologist Tim Ingold. We will reflect on links between the past and present and the possibilities for a more equitable and sustainable future.

Engage in reflective discussions as we navigate local streets, honing skills of perception and attentionality. Expand awareness of the intricate web of local-to-global relationships and processes that make landscapes. Bear witness to the ways in which public spaces have been used to assert–and challenge–social hierarchies and inequalities.

I’ve designed these walks to deepen your understanding of place (and race), ignite meaningful dialogue, and empower you and others to engage in positive change. I can customize walks to meet the needs of your group. Pricing varies. I am also able to add on additional workshops experiences.

Co-Walk Coaching & Personalized Journeys

Sometimes we want a more personal journey. While I am trained in one of the most esteemed life coaching methodologies (Martha Beck Wayfinder), I have my own approach to coaching through walking that gives greater emphasis on the idea that we have an “eco-social” self — a self born of relationships — versus some kind of buried “authentic self” waiting for our discovery.

What I help you unfold on personalized co-walks are your relationships to place, which have an underestimated impact on how you perceive yourself, your role in community, and your capacity for resilience in a shifting world.

This is not traditional coaching; it is process involving a minimum of four sessions that help you literally “walk in the world” in a different kind of way. It brings back a kind of magical awareness of your surroundings, so that you learn how to interact with your environment in a rejuvenating, inspiring and empowering way.

Corinna Moebius Janes Walk

“We hear the stories and histories that are typically silenced or made invisible,” Moebius says. “Walking in this way, in the way that Jane Jacobs walked through neighborhoods, can help us move beyond stereotypes and very limited ways of understanding people and place.”
