Consulting, Coaching & Facilitation
On a select basis, I offer consulting and facilitation services to government, nonprofits, foundations and businesses, as I only work with clients who also seek to contribute to more just, inclusive, resilient and sustainable world. When I work as a subcontractor with larger consulting firms, they too are aligned with these principles.
My decades of consulting experience includes work as a Senior Associate and later Director of Research & Education for Justice & Sustainability Associates (JSA), a DC-based consulting firm focused on the design and facilitation of equitable processes for multi-stakeholder engagement and governance. Previously, I owned a consulting business called Bordercross Communications (later renamed People Place Connect).
Based on the success of my work as a consultant and facilitator specializing in public engagement, an interview with me is featured in Becoming an Urban Planner: A Guide to Careers in Urban Planning (Wiley & Sons).
Consulting Areas of Focus
- Experiential Education and exhibition programs related to place, race, power and urban development
- Heritage/Historic/Commercial and/or Main Street Corridor Planning & Development
- Inclusive & Regenerative Tourism Initiatives: Assistance with developing and launching a new initiative.
- Tour Development: For locally based tour guides and tour operators.
Facilitation & Event Planning
I have facilitated and contributed to the design of numerous conferences, workshops and meetings, from hybrid virtual meetings with six in-person satellite locations to board retreats.
My experience includes, for example:
- designing and developing the Imagine Miami Changemaker Conferences (and forming an all-volunteer Community Advisory Board as part of the process);
- directing community cultural festivals (Adams Morgan Day in Washington, DC and Viernes Culturales in Miami, FL);
- facilitating workshops at conferences (e.g., on regenerative economics, community GIS, community dialogue methods, creative placemaking, arts and civic engagement);
- facilitating community dialogue processes (using the World Cafe methodology);
- facilitating multi-stakeholder meetings, charrettes, and table conversations related to land use and planning;
- co-producing the first national summit on online content development by, for and about Afro-descendants, held at Howard University in 1997.

When I worked with JSA, across multiple practice areas (Planning & Development, Sustainability & Infrastructure, History & Reconciliation), the clients I worked most closely with included the EDA’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge (as subject matter expert on equity and inclusive governance), the City of West Palm Beach Racial & Ethnic Equality Task Force, and the Episcopal Church (for their Inventory of Racial Justice & Reconciliation Initatives).

Group synthesis activities are very challenging. You just cannot pop up a PowerPoint and hope your message gets across. You need someone who can communicate to the group and to each individual, in multiple modalities. Corinna has a deep,intuitive sense about different learning styles, interpersonal reactions to group activities, and creating space for individual co-learning and expression. She sees the forest, and each tree at the same time. She can communicate complex material in a form that everyone understands: via word, image, sound, motion, and silence. I would never venture into a group synthesis activity without her wisdom.
